My wife and I did a day trip from HH to River Kwai November 2010. We booked through an agent in HH - Western Tours (opposite McDonalds). We have no affiliation with them whatsoever. The trip took three hours each way by minibus (0630 dep HH - 1900 arr back HH). We visited the War Graves (a most humbling experience), the museum, a trip on the train which took approx 90 minutes, a visit to an elephant "sanctuary" (I use the term sanctuary loosely) - it was totally touristy with elephant rides, and a short trip up and down river on a raft. An adequate buffet lunch stop is included. I think the cost pp was in the region of 2000 baht. The guide was informative. All in all an enjoyable day - but very long !!
